How can acupuncture treatment help you?

Women's health

From easing menstrual cramps to reducing hot flushes, balancing mood swings and improving sleep, this oriental medicine can ease a number of symptoms for women’s health. The benefits of acupuncture for women’s health include:

Reduction of menstrual pain and menstrual migraines. In fact, acupuncture is included in the NICE guidelines for the treatment of migraine in adults.

IVF support, as well as aid with pregnancy symptoms and morning sickness, birth, cervical ripening and labour pain. Acupuncture can promote labour and reduce the pain of contractions by increasing endorphins and smoothing the contractions of the uterus.

The reduction of peri-menopausal, menopausal and associated symptoms of hot flushes, mood swings, anxiety, depression, insomnia, joint pain, memory issues, fatigue and headache.

Restorative acupuncture is tailored to patients post chemotherapy/radiotherapy to help increase their wellbeing and recovery, and reduce anxiety and mild depressive symptoms. Acupuncture can also help with the hot flushes caused by hormonal treatments for cancer, and may also reduce dry mouth following radiotherapy.

Acupuncture can work with prescribed medication to reduce pain or even nausea.
It is advised that you check with your NHS care provider before having acupuncture treatment following cancer treatment.

Smoking cessation

Acupuncture can help to reduce physical cravings experienced when trying to give up smoking. When undergoing cancer treatment it is recommended that you try to give up but at such a stressful time this isn’t easy. Acupuncture can support your decision to try and improve your health. You can do it!

Back pain

For symptoms of back pain, this traditional medicine can be great at releasing pain-relieving chemicals, reducing inflammation and improving blood flow to help you live your best life. By reducing tension and balancing the energy within the body, acupuncture helps to alleviate uncomfortable back pain symptoms.

Anxiety & depression

To treat anxiety and depression, your acupuncture therapy can be tailored to aid in the release of seratonin and GABA. These chemicals offer a calming effect on the brain, and help block stress hormones, therefore helping you to relax and escape from your difficult mental symptoms for an affordable price.

Through reducing inflammation and easing pain, acupuncture therapy can help to reduce arthritic complications, helping to get you moving free from pain. Some studies have suggested that arthritis develops from an imbalance of energy within the body, and so by stimulating that energy with needles, this traditional medicine is able to counteract the painful implications of arthritis. Zest Acupuncture offers a western medical adapation of acupcunture, to combine knowledge of the body’s anatomy with this traditional medicine, to further help aid with your painful arthritic symptoms.

Joint pain

Whether it’s knee pain, osteoarthritis, or more, acupuncture health care can heal your body’s specific pain points. The process stimulates your Qi energy, therefore boosting your body’s natural pain killers and endorphins, and easing your painful symptoms.

Jenny performs Chinese acupuncture treatment you can trust. Hear what her clients have to say.

Every appointment I've had with Jenny has been wonderful. As soon as you walk in the door, the whole atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing and Jenny is always attentive and welcoming. Overall my appointments at Zest Acupuncture leave me feeling so safe and well cared for. It will always be my go-to place for treatment.

Back pain client

From the initial consultation, Jenny made me feel relaxed and gave realistic expectations for the cosmetic acupuncture treatments. Jenny is very gentle when inserting needles into the sensitive areas on my face [and recommended additional products to compliment the treatment]. My skin always feels plump and brighter after each treatment. If I could, I would have it everyday!"

Alison -cosmetic acupuncture

I would like to give a 5 star review. Jenny has been helping me with the journey going through the menopause with painful joints, headaches, anxiety and stress. I wanted to go the natural way into the menopause. Jenny has helped me through this and its working!

Jenny was simply amazing- she's created a professional, calming atmosphere, and is an expert at what she does. I will definitely be returning again and again.

What is acupuncture?

Acupcunture therapy is a traditional Chinese medicine focusing on the use of needles to stimulate the body's energy, promote blood flow, reduce inflammation and overall offer relief for various painful symptoms.

What conditions can acupuncture treat?

The range of conditions that can be treated include chronic pain, menstrual and meopausal difficulties, headaches, anxiety, joint pain and much more. If you're unsure on whether acupuncture can help your painful symptoms, get in touch with Zest Acupuncture and we can advise on the best treatment method for you.

How long does an acupuncture session last?

Our acupuncture sessions generally last between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the treatment type and the condition you are seeking help with.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Whilst some patients feel no pain at all, others may feel a small prick, or a dull aching or tingling sensation. The needles used are very thin, and so the pain is often very mild and goes away quickly. If you feel pain during your session, just let us know. We can adjust the depth and pressure used to make your session more comfortable for you.

How acupuncture works?

Through using needles to stimulate Qi energy, this rebalances the energy flow throughout the body and stimulates a number of hormones and chemicals to reduce your symptoms, and add some zest back into your life.

Is acupuncture actually safe?

Acupuncture is generally considered safe- there are some minor potential side effects including bruising and bleeding, however at Zest Acupuncture we take every precaution to ensure that your treatment is professional, safe and relaxing.

How many sessions are needed to see results?

The number of sessions required will depend on each individual patient. Some may only need a few sessions to see an improvement, whilst others may take slightly longer. If you have any queries over the treatment length, we will be happy to discuss options with you to tailor your treatment exactly to your needs.
